What we collect
Depending on how you use FriendScores, we may collect:
- Account info: name, email address, and basic profile details from Google when you sign in with Google;
- Profile details you choose to add (for example, phone number if you provide it);
- Content you submit, such as scores and comments you give or receive within the app;
- Technical data typical for web apps (for example, device/browser type, approximate location from IP for security or analytics, and cookies or similar tech as needed for login and the product to work).
How we use your information
We use it to:
- Run FriendScores — accounts, friend groups, scores, leaderboards, and related features;
- Send you notifications you've asked for (see below);
- Keep the service secure, fix bugs, and improve how it works;
- Respond to support requests and comply with the law.
Selling your data
We don't sell your personal information to data brokers. We use service providers to host and operate the app (see "Who helps us run FriendScores" below); they process data on our behalf, not for their own marketing to you.
Push notifications
Push notifications are opt-in. You can turn them off in your device or in-app settings where we offer controls.
Email invites
We send email invites only when you explicitly invite someone (for example, through an invite flow in the app). We don't blast your contacts without your action.
SMS Communications
FriendScores allows users to invite friends via SMS. If you provide a phone number for this purpose, we use it only to send the requested transactional invitation.
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Opt-In & Frequency: SMS messages are user-initiated. By using the invite feature, you confirm you have permission to send the message. Message frequency varies based on user activity. Standard message and data rates may apply.
Opt-Out & Support: You can cancel the SMS service at any time by texting "STOP". After you send "STOP", we will send a confirmation reply and cease further messaging. For assistance, text "HELP" or email info@friendscores.com.
Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to run the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you delete your account, we'll delete or anonymize your data as described when you request deletion, subject to legal holds or backups that roll off over time.
Your choices & deletion
You can request account deletion or ask questions about your data by contacting info@friendscores.com. We'll verify it's you where reasonable and process requests as required by law.
Who helps us run FriendScores
We rely on trusted providers, including:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and related backend infrastructure;
- Brevo — transactional email and SMS;
- Vercel — hosting and deployment of the web app.
Their own privacy policies apply to how they handle data as processors/infrastructure providers.
International users
If you use FriendScores from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. or other countries where our providers operate. By using the service, you understand that transfer may occur.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post updates here and change the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we may also notify you in the app or by email where appropriate.
